James A. Marlow is an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee since 1980. His practice is concentrated primarily in the area of international law.

Mr. Marlow was born on 23 May 1955 in Crossville, Cumberland County, Tennessee (USA) as the youngest of four children. There he attended Cumberland County High School from 1969 - 1973. After graduating from high school, Mr. Marlow studied at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and received his Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.), with a double major in Spanish and Economics, in December 1976. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

During his studies, Mr. Marlow spent one year in Mexico City where, among other things, he studied Spanish at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and taught English for Berlitz.

From 1977 - 1979, he attended the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (J.D.) in December 1979.

In March 1980, Mr. Marlow joined the U.S. Air Force as a military attorney in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and was stationed in Mississippi, Korea, and Germany.

After his release from active duty with an honorable discharge in November 1984, Mr. Marlow worked for an American law firm in Frankfurt, Germany (Carter & Associates) and studied German from October 1985 through February 1986 at the Internationales Studienzentrum in Heidelberg.

In June 1986, Mr. Marlow took a civilian attorney position with the Department of the Air Force at Headquarters Seventeenth Air Force, Sembach Air Base, Germany. For ten years Mr. Marlow was the Chief of International Law, responsible for international law matters of the U.S. Air Forces in Central Europe.

During this time, Mr. Marlow spent one year in residence at the Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, a senior service school for military science in Montgomery, Alabama.

In September 1996, Seventeenth Air Force was inactivated. Thereafter Mr. Marlow   worked as an Assistant Professor in the European Division of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and as an instructor for Central Texas College. He also established Marlow Forensic Genealogy in Crossville, an international probate and genealogical search firm.

Mr. Marlow retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserve on 1 February 2010 after 30 years of military service. His last assignment was Senior Individual Mobilization Augmentee in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany

Mr. Marlow has been married since 1987 and has two children, Lucas (born 1990) and Eric (born 1993). His wife, Sabine, born in Moenchengladbach, Germany, is a state-examined translator (staatlich gepruefte Uebersetzerin) for the French language. She works as a flight attendant with Lufthansa Airlines.

Mr. Marlow’s biography has been published in the recent editions of Marquis’ "Who’s Who in America" and "Who’s Who in American Law," both of which can be found in many public libraries throughout the world.
